Major General Ahmad Al-Mismari, spokesman of the Libya National Army led by Khalifa Haftar, stressed that the goal of the Libyan Army is to secure Tripoli and prevent the expansion of the battle, and he confirmed that groups affiliated with al-Qaida are keeping track of the battles, and he also referred to the presence of documents that link Islamic terrorist organizations in Syria, Iraq, and some in Tripoli, which he wishes UN Envoy Ghasan Salameh would look into, along with previous Security Council reports, to know the names of extremist leaders that are linked to extremist groups and that were in control of Tripoli before.
Al-Mismari added that the Libyan capital is abducted by terrorists whose only remaining power is to spread fake news. Furthermore, Al-Mismari discovered suspicious links between the Presidential Council and terrorist organizations, indicating that there is evidence for that link, which will be out in the upcoming days with the advances of the Libya National Army in the city.
He also said that the Prime Minister of the Government of the National Accord, Fayez Al-Sarraj did not put forth any compromises or positive steps to solve the crisis in Libya, indicating that he was not a partner of peace in Libya, instead, he went to Qatar and Turkey to meet the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood organization.
Furthermore, Al-Mismari also said that the battle in Libya will reveal the truth behind the role of Al-Sarraj, who did not gain any legitimacy from the Libyan parliament. He added: “We are happy with the current battle, because then people will see Al-Sarraj’s truth and the truth of those who stand behind him in matters that relate to the governance of Libya.”
Regarding choosing this time to declare the battle of Tripoli, Al-Mismari said: “We are nationally obliged to protect the Libyans from terrorism. Our people in Tripoli are tired of the terrorist practices, murders, kidnapping, destruction, and blackmailing. Therefore, we are here at the request of our people in Tripoli.”
Ever since the fall of Libyan President Moammar Al-Qathafi, libya was divided into two fronts that are competing for the control of the Libyan capital, amid conflict that not only aims to possess the keys for political institutions only, but there is also another motive behind it, which is aimed at the leading economic institutions, headed by the Central Bank and the National Oil Corporation which exports 1.600.000 barrels on a daily basis; therefore, the behind the scenes of the Libyan conflict reveal a conflict of interests and influence.
